WaspFit is a program that meets every athlete's needs. Athletes of all ages and skill levels improve their skills at WaspFit. From High School State Champion Wrestlers, Elite Football and Basketball players, to youth athletes on all levels, playing every sport. Our program, based on our core W.A.S.P. values, is focused on improving individual performance: physically and mentally. WaspFit is the first and only training program of its kind in our area to offer such programs as individual, group, sport-specific, and boot camp training. WaspFit is the right answer for peak athletic performance!

Our philosophy on training is centered on developing the athlete the right way! Adult workout programs are not suited for youth athletes. We tailor our workouts to the needs of the youth and focus on building a solid foundation of technique and proper movement patterns that will benefit the athlete for a lifetime.

It is our mission to create great athletes who will be successful in the long haul. Just like a baby must learn to roll over before crawling, crawl before standing, stand before walking, and walk before running, your athletes need to build a foundation for elite-level athletic performance before they can reach their maximum potential.

In the summer of 2011, Coach Shane Blackett began training a small group of high school Football players with the goal of helping these athletes increase their confidence, skill, and mental toughness. This small group continued to grow each summer as the results of the training were evident. Those same principles are what drive WaspFit today. Coach Blackett is passionate about helping kids succeed in everything they do! Along with his wife Whitney and son Boston, they have made WaspFit an extension of their family.

  • Coach Blackett is certified through the IYCA as a Level 1 - Youth Fitness Specialist. There are only 5 such trainers in the entire state of Utah with this certification. Coach also is certified as an IYCA Speed and Agility Specialist, IYCA Certified High School Strength & Conditioning Coach, and a Youth Nutrition Specialist.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Science - Secondary Education from Southern Utah University.
  • Three Sport First Team All-State athlete at Juab High School. Also coached Football, Basketball, and Baseball.
  • Passionate about learning and helping kids improve physically and mentally.  



WaspFit believes in being personal. Our personal training sessions are very successful in developing the athlete to meet the need of their sport. We believe in long-term athletic development. We start by teaching proper movement skills, then progress to speed and power training, then finally to sport-specific movements.



Each athlete is tested in a variety of areas during the first week of their program to gauge their strength, speed, and overall fitness levels. These numbers are recorded and referred back to often as we progress through our program. Each individual has their own, personalized plan that is best suited for them or to achieve their specific goals. This is not a cookie-cutter program or one-size-fits. We believe in tailoring the program to meet the athlete's needs.


Seeing improvement on paper is big for any athlete's mental state. Each athlete will be given their own unique WaspFit Report Card for each eight-week session they complete. WaspFit believes that when our athletic performance is measured, performance improves, and when that same performance is measured and reported, the rate of improvement is greatly accelerated. Below is an example showing the improvements made during one eight-week program for 7th grader, Teagen Christensen.

One of the best ways for teams to gel together as a cohesive unit is through training together. When teams workout together there is an increased desire to perform. You know you can count on your teammate during the season when they are putting in the hard, not-so-glamorous off-season work.

From a coaching perspective, we can fit our workouts into your practice time and free you up to coach your sport and focus on skill development with your athletes rather than wondering how you can fit strength & conditioning into your schedule.

The heart of the WaspFit program is seeded in our Group Training Sessions. WaspFit provides a unique atmosphere where kids can come compete and push themselves physically but also get the opportunity to learn the importance of being a good teammate and contributing to something bigger than themselves! 




We Understand when we are trying to make changes to our health it can be hard! We understand working with a trainer or going to the gym is not always the most comfortable thing to do. However, we know that in order to make big changes we have to step outside of our comfort zone! We are willing to work with you through any situation and will always respect your wishes, after all this is your program! We are just the ones who get to go on the journey with you to a NEW LIFE!


The WaspFit Transformation Program focuses on 3 areas:

  • Nutrition
Do you know what your particular body needs for fuel? We can help get you on the right track to making smart nutrition choices! The biggest hurdle we all face when it comes to what we eat is ACCOUNTABILITY! If we are not accountable for the nutrition choices we make each day what will stop us from totally destroying our metabolism with the quick and easy choices that are set before us!? We help you recognize, record, then make the necessary changes!

  • Exercise
A plan that will help you achieve your goals whether that be to lose weight, get in better shape for the summer, or just improve your overall life quality. Our programming is adaptable to meet your needs. Workouts are always designed with you and your busy life in mind! Regardless of what your fitness level may be, we will challenge you to be better!

  • Mindset
People will pour hours and hours into exercising their bodies but often fail to give their mental training the attention it needs! WaspFit is big on training with a growth mindset. We focus on positive affirmations each day that keep us moving mentally down the right road. Life is hard enough as it is, we don't need to compound it with our own negative self-talk. We will coach you and give you the tools you need to win on the battlefield of your own mind!
